The 7th Edition of the Africa Public Service Day organized by the African Union Commission (AUC) and the Government of Kenya was held at the Kenyatta International Conventions Center (KICC) in Nairobi on 21-23 June 2019.
The event celebrates the initiatives of the African Union Member States on how best to promote continental growth through high-quality public services.
The Kenya Trade Network Agency (KenTrade), presenting the “Simplification of Trade Procedures using the Kenya InfoTrade Portal” as its innovation, scooped the Award as 2nd best government institution under the category “Best ethical, managed, accountable, transparent and accessible organization in Africa”.
Evaluators celebrated KenTrade’s development and use of the InfoTradeKenya portal to identify and assess the impact of simplification measures that effectively reduce requirements and administrative costs needed to trade. Furthermore, they lauded the benefits of the approach for the regulators promoting broader public-private dialogue.
Exhibitors had been selected as the best in their respective countries to present their innovations during the Africa Public Service Week. Each project was evaluated on the basis of impact, cost and speed of service delivery under the theme of this year’s APSD, “the Intersection of Youth Empowerment and Migration”: Entrenching a culture of Good Governance, ICT and innovation for inclusive service delivery”.
